A Bridal Shower to Remember

Bridal Shower

We’re all excited to see a woman we love take the next step in her relationship. We feel the need to share this excitement and to celebrate her happiness through a grand cascade of gifts and activities. However, though we’re excited, sometimes a bridal shower can be overwhelming and difficult. This is the time you need to slow down and begin focusing on the joy of the occasion, rather than the task of the occasion. Bridal showers are often more appreciable for the thought, and the more thought behind the shower, the greater the appreciation.

Step into the Invitations

The first step is always the invitation for the guests. You’ll need to plan and get ready to throw the best, and hopefully the only, bridal shower your bride will ever have. Plan it for the weekend about eight weeks, give or take a couple weeks, before the wedding. Most of all, before you start writing the date on those invitations, confirm a date with the bride herself for the convenience for her and the rest of her family. You’ll want everyone to attend so you’ll need a record of names and addresses from the bride.

When creating the invitations, consider whether you’re throwing a traditional female-only bridal shower or a contemporary unisex shower. Also, think about the theme of the shower and tailor your invitations to match. For instance, if you’re throwing a famous couples shower, then you’ll want a glamorous invitation.

The RSVP information, wedding gifts registration location, party location, time and date are all vital pieces of information to place on the invitation.

Shower Schemes

If you’re not going with any particular theme for the shower, then you’ll want to consider the color scheme. Pink and white are traditional and popular, but if you’re throwing a bridal party for someone darker or who hates pink, it’s important to keep that in mind. You want the party equipped for the bride, not for tradition.

The decorations are rather simple. For maximum effect at minimal price, balloons and streamers are an excellent choice. Choose decorations that are theme or scheme orientated. If you have a fashionable theme, you certainly don’t want to go with paper table clothes.

Don’t forget photographs of the bride and her partner. This event is all about the happiness of the bride and her choice to marry. Set photographs up next to the guestbook, buffet table, gift table and in other areas of the room.

Bridal Menu Choice

Unless you have only a few guests, a buffet will be your best choice for food options. Fill it with the bride’s favorite vegetables, fruits and snacks. You don’t want to overload the guests with heavy meals, so choose finger foods that can be easily consumed without weighing down their stomachs. Dress up the table with miniature service people dressed appropriately to the scheme or theme. It’s bound to be a hit and amuse the guests.

Shower Games

When choosing your shower games, keep your bride in mind. While you may think some things are hilarious, don’t embarrass her at her own party. If she’s shy or introverted, choose games that are interactive but never place her on the spot. However, if she’s a natural lime light, then choose the games that will best define her personality. Just remember, it’s a party, treat it as such. Have fun planning and have fun celebrating. This is part of the wedding and a moment for the bride to remember forever.
